PickPocket Foragers are fully washable/tumble dryable fleece feeders in which dogs hunt for treats inside pockets. They are simple to use, easy to launder and bring all the benefits of foraging into your dog’s home.
Our PickPocket foraging blankets lie flat on the floor and have a number of pockets perpendicular to each other for your dog to search in for treats. The foraging blanket offers a rich foraging game, is excellent for distraction from unwanted behaviour and can be used to calm an anxious dog. It can also double up as a bed!
Our foraging blankets come in two sizes:
- Small for dogs up to Jack Russell Terrier size
- 60 pockets, 6cm deep x 15cm wide
- Total size approx. 90cm square
- Medium/Large for dogs English Springer spaniel size and above (excluding giant breeds)
- 60 pockets each 20cm wide x 8cm deep
- Total size approx. 110cm square
Foraging blankets are suitable for all ages and all breeds and can be successfully used by brachycephalic (flat faced) dogs. They are ideal mental stimulation for dogs on post-operative care, on restricted exercise or for those with reduced mobility due to arthritic conditions. Eating from the foraging blanket can provide these dogs with a few minutes gentle weight-bearing exercise. Foraging games are especially beneficial to senior dogs with cognitive dysfunction and ‘golden oldies’ whose other senses may be in decline and who come to rely more on olfaction. The foraging blanket is especially suited to visually impaired dogs, senior dogs and puppies as the skill level required is easy yet the game is highly rewarding, satisfying and safe.
HAPPY FORAGING!
Warning! Some owners are concerned that their dog will chew the fleece, however most dogs find foraging so immensely rewarding that this instinct usually overrides their desire to bite the fabric. Please ALWAYS supervise your dog and follow the instructions for use on the packaging to minimise risk. No dog should be left alone with any of the PickPocket Forager range as ingesting fabric could lead to serious medical issues. If you have any concerns or suspect your dog has swallowed some fabric, please consult your veterinary surgeon immediately.
