PickPocket Foragers are fully washable/tumble dryable fleece feeders in which dogs hunt for treats inside pockets. They are simple to use, easy to launder and bring all the benefits of foraging into your dog’s home.
The PickPocket Caterpillar is the ultimate foraging fun! It rolls up for your dog to unravel and search. The Caterpillar is 150 cm long and 30 cm wide, and has five deep pockets on each side with an opening in the middle. Each pocket is 30 cm wide x 15 cm deep, making the Caterpillars suitable for both flat-faced breeds and large breeds.
We have combined our popular Caterpillar with a set of three foraging pouches which can be tucked inside the pockets to make the foraging environment more challenging and exciting. The pouches are 20 cm square. Please check they are large enough for your dog's nose.
PickPocket Caterpillar foragers are suitable for dogs of all ages and most breeds including those with flat faces. They are ideal mental stimulation for dogs on post-operative care, those on restricted exercise or for dogs with reduced mobility due to arthritic conditions. Playing with the Caterpillar forager can provide these dogs with a few minutes gentle weight-bearing exercise. Foraging games are especially beneficial to senior dogs with cognitive dysfunction and ‘golden oldies’ whose other senses may be in decline and who come to rely more on olfaction. The Caterpillar forager is especially suited to visually impaired dogs who are able to use their natural foraging skills in a game that is highly rewarding, satisfying and safe. Puppies can also hugely benefit mentally and physically from nosework activities, and PickPocket Foragers can be successfully used to distract from unwanted behaviour.
Some owners are concerned that their dog will chew the fleece, however most dogs find foraging so immensely rewarding that this foraging instinct usually overrides their desire to bite the fabric. Please ALWAYS supervise your dog and follow the instructions for use on the packaging to minimise risk. No dog should be left alone with any of the PickPocket Forager range as ingesting fabric could lead to serious medical issues. If you have any concerns or suspect your dog has swallowed some fabric, please consult your veterinary surgeon immediately.
